All car manufacturers recommend a slightly different pattern of maintenance for their vehicles and we recommend servicing your vehicle in line with these manufacturer guidelines and timescales. Bowley’s Garage has access to all manufacturers servicing schedules so we can advise on which service is due according to the current mileage and age of your vehicle.
We place a high emphasis on the importance of using the correct grade of oil and resetting the vehicle correctly according to manufacturer settings at each service. We offer a range of services, please phone for pricing information.
All vehicles over 3 years old must have a valid MOT certificate and be tested annually. This evidences that the vehicle was in a roadworthy condition and met the standards set by the Ministry of Transport and Vehicle Operator Standards Agency (VOSA), at the time of the test.
All garages that are authorised MOT test centres are regulated by VOSA and must adhere to scheme rules, testing standards and offer suitable facilities. The elements that make up an MOT test require skill and experience by the tester to enable them to make the correct judgement according to the state of parts and any wear and tear to the vehicle. In addition to the obligatory VOSA training courses, Bowley’s MOT testers have a minimum of 9 years’ experience of repairing and inspecting vehicles on a daily basis, ensuring that all faults apparent on the vehicle are correctly noted as pass, failure or advisory items.
Modern vehicles are powered by a series of computers, which communicate with one another to create adjustments to many aspects of their operation without the driver even being aware. These systems are generally robust and reliable, however, when problems do occur with electronics; the symptoms often present as a warning light or an engine misfire which require an external computer to be connected in order to identify the initial area of fault.
Manufacturers recommend that vehicle air conditioning systems are serviced every two years. Refrigerant gases evaporate and systems become less effective at cooling, particularly if not used or switched on on a regular basis.
